I think I read they (Serif) will be releasing an update that will sort of address the issues, although unfortunately they're not going "back" to a standard installer scheme. But that's apparently just a temporary stop-gap. Someone from Serif wrote and posted a generic exe that you can put in your path and call, then it will run the app. It's all related to the v2 apps being packaged as Windows Store apps. If XnView can read and display the embedded preview, that's good enough for me. I don't have the spec, which I'm sure is proprietary. Maybe as a Photo user it has no interest but in Designer the Shape Builder is great. The same is also true for Brushes, importing once, use in all 3 applications. What I also like is importing assets in Affinity Designer and they appear also in Photo and Publisher. Note the v2 images have the same extension as v1, but per Serif they're a different (and not backward compatible) format. The user interface of V2 is much more logical organized than V1.
