Bari Kaplan of Women's Hospital - Beilinson, who conducted the clinical trials. The method Livia uses has been proven effective in several clinical studies," says Prof. The device stimulates the nerves, making it impossible for the pain to pass. Livia uses a pain relief method that does not involve drug consumption. "Over 50% of women suffer from primary menstrual cramps, for which they consume large amounts of painkillers. The startup has, however, conducted clinical tests on 163 women. The product has been met with great enthusiasm, but it has not received any approval from a regulator like the FDA. "Tapping into a specific frequency, Livia is able to fine-tune this technique to alleviate menstrual pain," says Chen. Livia is based on similar principles that you see in TENS devices that is used to block normal pain signals, but the technology is applied to this new device with key innovation being that it is now convenient and portable. Since we haven't officially tested this before, and it's not the intended use of Livia (because it runs on a specific frequency) I don't feel comfortable condoning or giving the 'ok' on using it for those purposes," says Chen. "There have been reviews of others who have tested the prototype on other types of pain and it worked for them. While Livia is intended to eliminate period pain, the technology can be technically used to eliminate or reduce other types of pain. ![]()
